1. Set Goals Ahead of Time

One of the most important steps in your health and fitness journey is to set goals ahead of time. Begin with simple goals that you are confident you can accomplish. From there, progress to more long-term goals.

Make your goals achievable and realistic to keep morale high. Remember, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed if you set too many goals at once. If you’re starting from scratch, remember to be patient with yourself.

Consider making time goals. For example, an excellent short-term goal is planning to walk for fifteen minutes a day, three days a week. As you accomplish goals like this over time, expand the platform and increase your goals.

Try to incorporate all aspects of health and fitness for the best chance at a healthy lifestyle. Include both cardio as well as strength training exercises to create a well-balanced exercise plan.

Choose diverse exercises at both moderate and vigorous levels. Consider activities such as:

You can also incorporate physical fitness into your workday as well. Try to take the stairs instead of riding the elevator. Schedule times in your workday to get up and move, especially if you are at a desk most of the day.

Consider walking to lunch instead of driving or getting delivery. You can also make healthy dining choices at work as well. Choose to pack your lunch instead of going out for fast food or find vendors with organic meal options that will further your health journey.

Stay away from sugary drinks like specialty coffees and sodas. Try to stick to water throughout the workday to make sure you’re staying hydrated. After all, the body is composed of mostly water.

It’s important to maintain the balance between electrolytes and water throughout your body to make sure your nerves and muscles are getting the best care possible.

4. Record Your Progress

Be sure to write everything down to best accomplish your fitness goals. Whether you’re hoping to boost your energy, improve your sleep, or lose weight, you’re more likely to accomplish your goals if you write them down.

Seeing yourself accomplish your goals on paper will help you track your progress and stay motivated. Consider purchasing an exercise diary to record what activities you did and what you found most fun and beneficial.

It’s also great to look back and see how far you’ve come. You’ll be reminded of just how much progress you’ve made since starting your fitness journey.

5. Unite With Neighbors, Friends, and Family

You’re not alone. Unite with neighbors, friends, and family to catapult your success. There’s a good chance those around you are also looking to start or improve their fitness journey too.

Consider organizing a group together a few times a week to help hold each other accountable. If you have children, attend their sports activities or consider volunteering as a coach to stay active alongside your young ones.

6. Use Positive Reinforcement

One of the best motivation tips is to use positive reinforcement. It’s important to reward yourself, especially when you hit a certain milestone. For example, after a week of sticking to your fitness routine, reward yourself with a day off the gym.

You can increase the reward accordingly when you achieve a long-term goal. This will motivate you to keep at it.

7. Be Adaptable

Perhaps most importantly, be adaptable. There will be days or even weeks when your motivation will dip and you’ll skip the gym. It’s totally fine when this happens. Don’t be hard on yourself.

Just keep your eyes on the bigger picture, keep trying to regain your motivation, and soon enough you’ll be back at it.
